1. Where does the retreat take place?

2. How do I get there?

There will be buses taking us directly from Barcelona to L’Avenc in Tavertet. Some attendees will drive — or even better, organize carpooling! If you are planning to drive and are willing to be of service, please contact info@camp-retreat.net to volunteer.

 

To get to L’Avenc by public transportation, take the train from Barcelona (departing from Sants, Plaça Catalunya, or La Sagrera-Meridiana stations) towards Vic. Some trains are direct, while others require a transfer at an intermediate station. Vic station is about 30 minutes from L’Avenc. We suggest booking a taxi in advance by calling +34 938 855 000. The approximate taxi fare is €50–60.

3. How long does it take to get there?

It generally takes about 2.0 hours on the bus (traffic permitting).

4. What are the dates of the event?

The retreat usually takes place during the third weekend of October from Friday to Sunday.

5. How much does it cost?

Limited places, first booked with advanced payment, first confirmed. Includes round trip bus transportation from Barcelona City, meals, lodging. Non-refundable.

6. How do I apply for a scholarship?

When registration opens click on this link on our website to apply for a partial scholarship (you pay 130€). Applying for a scholarship in NO WAY guarantees a spot for you at the retreat. If you are in a position to pay full price for the event we recommend doing so. This is the only way to guarantee your spot is reserved.

7. How are the scholarships awarded?

A random drawing takes place after all the scholarship applications have been submitted. How many scholarships are awarded will depend on the success of our fundraising efforts.

8. Can I be awarded a scholarship if I have been awarded one in the past?

Yes, however if your name gets drawn during the random drawing and you have previously been awarded a scholarship in the past 5 years, your name will go to the bottom of the list. This allows for people who have not been awarded a scholarship in the past to have a chance to attend the event.

9. What do I do if I have any food allergies?

If you have any food allergy or special dietary needs (e.g., gluten or wheat, shellfish, lactose or dairy, nuts), please let us know. L’Avenc will do their best to accommodate any dietary requirements but cannot guarantee they will be able to meet all requests.

10. What do I wear?

The temperature in Tavertet is usually a few degrees lower than in Barcelona, varying from 15ºC during the day to 5ºC in the early morning. Be sure to check for a more precise forecast just prior to the retreat.

  • Appropriate clothing for warm afternoons and chilly mornings and nights.
  • A jacket or windbreaker (it can get chilly in the evenings, especially if we gather outdoors).
  • Comfortable exercise clothing and sports shoes.
  • Swim costume (you will have access to a heated indoor pool).
  • Bring yoga mats if possible for those of you who are interested in that activity, we will also have some extra mats.

 

11. Is the pool open?

It’s an interior swimming-pool, heated at around 27º-29ºC, with a 25m swimming lane. The pool is free for all guests. During the summer the exterior doors are open in order to give you direct access to the solarium-patio area.
There is no lifeguard, therefore all guests are responsible for their own safety. Children below the age of 16 years old must be accompanied in and around the pool area at all times.

The jacuzzi (34-35º): open in the afternoon from 17h to 22h, from autumn until the end of spring.

Swimming-pool: open everyday from 8.00h to 22.00h.

USAGE RULES:

Rules and usage guides are visible in the swimming-pool area.
Remember to bring flip-flops or similar (to avoid slipping on the stone floor), swimsuit and swimming cap.

12. Is there a gym?

No. L’Avenc does not have a gym inside the facilities. But there will be fitness workshops provided over the weekend.

13. Is there 5G and Wi-Fi on site?

Cell phone service and Wi-Fi are consistent at l'Avenc and in the additional houses in Tavertet. how ever We encourage you to consider taking a “device holiday”.

14. Is there smoking permitted?

Smoking is not allowed inside the hotel or on the balconies. There is a designated smoking area in front of the lobby.

15. Can I bring my dog?

No pets allowed. Animals are not permitted unless you have notified us that you a bring a certified service animal. Violators will be asked to leave the retreat.

16. How do roommates get assigned?

During your online registration you may select a designated roommate. If both of you (or the 3 of you) have selected each other, you will placed in the same room. If not you will learn who your roommate is when you check in. The specific sleeping arrangements in your room are for you and your roommate(s) to decide.

17. Should I bring my own food or snacks?

We will provide you with meals throughout the weekend. A variety of delicious snacks and beverages (water/soda/coffee/teas) are also available at all times. You are welcome to bring extra, non-perishable foods and snacks to keep in your room. Refrigerators are available for your use.

18. How many people get to attend each year?

Approximately 60 to 70 attendees are permitted each year.

19. Do you have to be LGBTIQ+ to attend?

No, not necessarily. Camp retreat welcomes people of all backgrounds to attend.

We only ask you:

  • Respect and tolerance: remember to respect the personal space of your colleagues.
  • Always communicate in a language of love and respect towards the entire LGBTIQ+ community.

20. When does registration open?

Generally, registration will open in August each year. Every year the registration period gets shorter and shorter due to the volume of registrants. Please register as early as possible in order to guarantee your spot. There are wait-lists for people who are willing to pay full price and there is also a scholarship waitlist.

21. When will I know if I was awarded a scholarship?

The random drawing usually takes place in September, and notifications will be sent to the scholarship winners. If there is no response from a scholarship winner, the next person from the scholarship waitlist will be awarded.

22. If I sign up to volunteer at the event- do I automatically get registered?

No. You must register online.

23. If I apply for a scholarship and do not get awarded one- can I still register and pay full price?

This is an option, however there is NO GUARANTEE that you will be able to attend if you wait to register until after scholarships have been awarded. If all spots are filled, you will be placed on the waitlist for registration. Again, if you are able to pay full price for your registration, we recommend doing so in order to guarantee your spot at the retreat.
